Where To Buy Soy Candles

Always trim the wick to less than 1/4" before lighting the candle. This ensures a smooth, non-flickering flame and will make the candle last much longer. We recommend burning our 8 oz and 16 oz candles for about 3 hours at a time.

Paraffin is made from the residue left over from oil refining. While it is good use of a waste product, it isn't good for your health or the environment. Soot from paraffin candles includes probable carcinogens toluene and benzene, as well as other toxic chemicals including methyl ethyl ketone and naphthalene. Some candles even contain lead in the wick.

5. Soy won't ruin your walls: The emissions from paraffin candles build up on walls, staining the paint in your home. They also build up in upholstery fabrics and in carpets, affecting the air quality in your home.

6. Soy doesn't produce as much heat: When you've had the oven on all day and a bunch of people over, the last thing you need is more heat. 7. Spilled soy is easier to clean up: Soy is biodegradable so if it spills on your tablecloth or clothing, it's a lot easier to clean than paraffin. 8. Soy helps U.S. farmers: The United States is the number one producer of soy in the world, so when you buy soy products, you're supporting American farmers. 9. Soy candles are safer: Soy is a soft wax so tapers are nearly impossible to find. But tapers can tip over easily, so avoid the fire hazard altogether with soy pillar candles. 10. Soy is better than beeswax at mealtime: While beeswax a great option, the honey scent can interfere with your meal--plus soy is cheaper to produce, so you'll save some money.

We prefer soy wax over traditional paraffin wax because it is clean-burning and free of toxins. This makes it healthier to breathe and less likely to trigger allergies and headaches. And because soy wax burns 30-50% longer than paraffin wax, our soy candles are cost-effective as well.

When it comes to candle wax, you have a number of options out there that boast their own positives and negatives of use. In comparison to paraffin wax, in particular, soybean wax greatly outshines the competition. Here are 3 benefits to buying, using, and making soy candles!

The wax in soy candles not only melts at lower temperatures but lasts longer than paraffin wax. This is because the compounds in soy wax are much smoother and softer compared to paraffin which has a hard soap-like texture. A slower burning wax also means the fragrance is not overwhelming and is gradually released into the room for a more relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. This is excellent news for anyone with a sensitive sense of smell.

Soy wax is a cleaner burning wax that releases very little soot when burning, unlike paraffin wax that contains dangerous carcinogens that are bad for the environment. The wax in soy candles is also derived directly from naturally grown soybeans by farmers right here in the USA. Buying soy-based candles help support local farmers and local agriculture in your area.

Whether you want to have a pleasing fragrance in your living room, set a relaxing mood, or need a decorative fixture for your home, our soy candles can meet all your needs. Fragrance is the essence of scented soy candles, so obviously everyone that makes soy candles wants to make their candles the best scented out there! There are so many different fragrances and fragrance oil suppliers that it can be difficult to know which fragrances throw well in soy wax and which suppliers carry the best fragrances.

HiElizabeth. To make your own fragrances you need a carrier oil like Sweet Almond Oil and the you need a selection of Essential oils. Some prior knowledge about essential oil is recommended. Some essential oils do ok in candles and others do not. Some have a lower flash point also so you need to be careful there. Then you need to choose a top note then a mid note and a base not. A couple of drops each on 3 Popsicle sticks and then wave it past your nose to find out if you like the combination. You may want 2 drops of one and 4 drops of another, etc, then when you have the combination right it needs to be added to 30ml oil and stirred . Then you can add as per normal to a test candle. It is quiet scientific really but you can create your own scents by blending ready candle fragrances together and seeing what you come up with.

Do you happen to have any idea where I could find a plain pineapple scented oil with good scent throw? Coconut-pineapple is nice and CandleScience has one, but I am looking for just plain pineapple. Thank you ?

The recommendations for quality fragrances that throw well are extremely helpful. Some of our favorites are Blackberry Sage, Cinnamon Balsam, Casaba Mist and Amish Harvest from Peak. We use Nature Wax Elite 200 from Filmore Containers for container candles. Does anyone else use this wax? Would love to hear what temperatures others use for this wax for heating and pouring. Thanks. Mary
