Controversy was prompted in 1987 with the arrival of Cindy Parker (Ellen Wheeler), who would later fall in love with Stuart. The character was revealed to have AIDS. Through visits by now-Dr. Angie Hubbard, the show educated the public on how the disease was spread and how to prevent it. Cindy had contracted HIV from her husband, Fred, played by Mark Morrison who contracted it from sharing needles for drug use. Cindy is attacked by a vigilante hate group led by her niece, Skye Chandler. The tragedy of the attack shows the extremes of violence that occur every day to individuals with the disease. Cindy marries Stuart and he adopts her son, Scott. She dies early in 1989 in one of the show's most watched episodes. ABC wanted changes at All My Children. The show was getting about 6.5 million viewers per episode, but there was sentiment that the program had lost its unique sense of humor and was simply copying other soaps with action/adventure storylines.[citation needed] Efforts were made to bring the show back to the glory days of the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Former All My Children writer and producer Ginger Smith returned as the new executive producer and creator Agnes Nixon served as consultant. The new episodes were 30 minutes long and aired on Hulu, Hulu Plus, and iTunes. Initially, 220 episodes of the show were ordered. The production company planned to shop the reboot to cable distributors beginning September 2013.[110] The show schedule was four days a week (Monday-Thursday) with a Friday recap show, MORE All My Children, to feature behind the scenes footage as well as interviews with the cast and to be hosted by Leslie Miller.[111] The revival show began on April 29, 2013, and production began on February 25, 2013, in Connecticut, with All My Children and One Life to Live taping in five-week rotations for 17 weeks.[112][113][114]

On May 17, 2013, The Online Network announced that All My Children and One Life To Live would no longer air five days a week together, due to viewer ratings that reflect online viewing patterns rather than those of traditional television. Starting May 20, 2013, All My Children and One Life To Life will be presented in a new schedule, with AMC airing on Mondays and Wednesdays and OLTL airing Tuesdays and Thursdays. The recap shows MORE All My Children and MORE One Life To Life will also combine as one show airing on Fridays. The following day on May 18, 2013, both shows were noticeably missing from the FX Canada website and schedule, and although they subsequently became available on iTunes Canada, it was later revealed that FX Canada dropped All My Children and One Life To Live due to the reduction of episodes, as the carriage agreement had specifically called for the airing of four episodes per week of both shows. Due to the reduction, FX Canada stated that "the agreement is no longer valid".[115][116] On May 20, 2013, the first episodes of the new All My Children and One Life To Live were available worldwide on The Online Network's YouTube page, TOLNSoaps.[117]

As of 2012[update], New Zealand, started airing All My Children on TV3 1 pm weekdays. TV3 airs episodes from 2010. TV3 has reportedly canceled their contract with ABC NETWORK after learning of the show's demise.

Days later Jordan returned to MRPD and had some bad news for his fellow officers. Jordan was told by doctors that he either has a cold or full blown AIDS, and he possibly has only three days to live. He informed his fellow officers of his condition and they seemed concerned and confused. He told Cadet Toretti that if he dies he'd like "sometimes you get AIDS and die" written on his tombstone. He still has his job as a police officer, but he may have only days left to live. He also reconnected with his estranged wife Kayden and his son Chips. He introduced Kayden and Chips to his other son Deandre Jackson. Jordan later responded to an issue at the prison involving Bovice Wilkinson. Bovice informed Jordan that he always saw something in him and that he needs to pay him $5,000 a week to ensure Chip's safety.

Trooper Andrews ordered them to return to MRPD where he informed them that they were under investigation by IAD for the unlawful use of excessive force on a dog, and the emotional trauma sustained by Tuong. They were permitted to have an officer to serve as legal counsel, and Jordan chose Deputy Lauren Forcer. While Jordan and Toretti were left inside of the office, the new Chief of Police, Bobby Smith, arrived and was informed about the situation and he groaned bitterly. "Half of the people in there, " said Chief Smith, pointing directly at Jordan through the door's window, "I've been trying to get fired! So I don't know how this is my problem." "How hard is it to fire them?" asked Trooper Andrews. "Now it's all of them," said Chief Smith. "It's very hard actually -- This morning, for example, I talked to the administration and I had Steele's credential's pulled," and with a sly smile said, "I don't know if he's noticed that yet." They were unaware that Jordan had heard the entire conversation and he surged forth from office like a torrent of water spewing out of a damaged water dam, yelling angrily and confronting Chief Smith. "He wasn't supposed to hear that Bobby," muttered Trooper Andrews through his teeth. After Jordan's tirade, he complained that no one came to visit him while he was in the ICU. Chief Smith questioned his injury, wondering how it was possible for Jordan to go to the ICU for a leg injury. Jordan and Toretti were issued 15 strike points each.

Jordan disguised himself in green clothing and pretended to be the leader of GSF, Dexx Martin, and hid out in the outside of the city. Okada met him at the casino and told him he has 2 warrants for his arrest to be held until trial. Okada is brining Murphy Braun to help with the defense team. Nettie got suspended for 3 days for going to prison, so Jordan hired her to work at the lot. Jordan later dressed as a homeless man and panhandled to everyone he met on the streets. He later went to the courthouse for his bail hearing. Jordan pled not even guilty to both charges of murder. Justice LaBarre set bail at $50K and EMS Bailey loaned him the bail money. LaBarre revoked his weapons license, later DA Splainer and with ADA Dupree came to the lot and threatened to have Jordan's business license revoked. Jordan hired new employees for SS and the lot. He later drove past Dexx Martin and informed him that he now does security and he is no longer a cop, he also mentioned that he is under investigation for two murders including the death of government worker Boba Stone. Dexx was shocked, and Jordan told him it was something he should think about and drove off.

Rev. BILLY GRAHAM: Every time I've been to Europe, I've been more conscious than ever before that unless the Western world has an old-fashioned revival, we are done for! We cannot last! We cannot stand the tremendous strain and stress of future days in our battle with Communism unless we have a spiritual revival!

EDWARD R. MURROW, CBS News: ["Person to Person"] Now, at 37, Billy Graham is the most famous evangelist in the world, and his power of persuasion has softened skeptics who used to call him "the hot gospeller from the Bible Belt," "the Barrymore of the Bible." In between his long tours, Billy Graham goes home for a few days of seclusion with his wife, Ruth, and their four children.

JAMES TERRY McCOLLUM: Champaign was a pretty conservative community at the time. And as a matter of fact, at that time, atheism was equated with communism. So you just didn't be an atheist in those days, or let people know.

Rev. MARTIN LUTHER KING, Jr.: Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But it really doesn't matter with me now because I've been to the mountaintop. I don't mind.
